I've begun the rough draft of a story I had thought up over 20 years ago. It's been rolling around in my head for some time now and I'm trying to get it on paper. I have no idea if its any good and I'm not really trying to earn a living writing short stories... let's just say it is something I need to get out of my system.
The story is fantasy... with a dash of steampunk. I've always liked the look and texture of steampunk, the whole idea of wearing a suit of armour while carrying a bolt action rifle and cape! It just looks so damn cool.
My literary library is very small. I've only finished a small number of books. I've watched an average amount of films, however my taste is often indie type genres or unusual writers and directors. Furthermore, I never finished my college education... I'm no english major.
So, with that being said, yeah I'm curious to see if what I produce is really worth reading. I'm not really expecting much to come of it as I've realized a pattern in my life. It would seem that I can be good at certain things... but never good enough to be 'successful' at them. I've also learned that there is always someone else who is better, no matter what the profession or skill. Now and again someone will produce something that is unusually good.
Browsing new submissions here at deviantART is a perfect example. I might see something that really makes me say "wow!" but when I click the link to their profile and browse their gallery... it doesn't really impress me. Again, not saying I'm the shit. Just making an observation.
Perhaps it's my turn now. I might produce a work that will raise some eyebrows but when you click the link to my profile... you won't be that impressed. Heh. I'm debating on whether or not to upload my story here. Most likely I'll upload small snippets for criticism. If anyone is reading this... please let me know what you think.
Thanks.

I couldn't stop staring
Someone did a painting commissioned by Nikki Magnusson.
He gave the link.
She has these perfectly symmetrical... uh... areolas.
Yeah... I admit. I was staring.
Sometimes I think I shouldn't come to this place.
Too many... distractions.
I'd like to look like David Navarro
Well... except for the body piercings.
... and without the tattoos
... the chin beard thing could use some trimming
... know what? Nevermind. (/me googles for bowflex for cheap!)
I'd like to start writing again
I'd like to thank http://retlaw.deviantart.com/ retlaw for his
contributions to devianART. Reading his short stories reminded
me so much of the ones I used to write. It has inspired me to try
and get the ball rolling again. I've got lots of material locked up
in my head and I sure as hell could use some extra space.
Take a moment to click the http://retlaw.deviantart.com/
because his stuff is not boring to read. None of the articles are
too wordy or too long that you'll lose interest. In fact, there is
something dynamic happening in every paragraph.
I'm going to revive my old website and see if there is any spark
left in her
Wasting time
While I have done some artwork over the past months...it still has been inconsistent. I lack motivation. The pieces that I have done recently were for my gamesite. It is something... better than nothing.

I think the key to everything is perseverance.
I don't think anything comes out perfect. Everything starts off messy and ugly, but if you gnaw and chew on it for long enough, it will turn out well
